2. PANEL: Navigating AI in the Creative Sector: Implications for CMOs

Format: Moderated round-table preceded by a demonstration on the potential of AI Music creation from Ryszard Wojciul.

Overview: AI has rapidly become part of everyday life, creating both new opportunities and new challenges, and prompting fresh approaches to creation and use of recordings. This panel will explore how creators and CMOs are adapting to this fast-evolving and still only lightly regulated environment, developing their activities and responses through a range of legal, institutional, and technical tools.

Ryszard Wojciul – STOART

Ryszard Wojciul is a musician, composer, journalist and music producer. A veteran of the vibrant Polish rock scene of the 1980s, he played with most prominent Polish bands, before going on to lead his own musical projects. His artistic work has always gone hand in hand with a deep-rooted dedication to the music community. Since 2016, he has served as Vice-Chairman of the Polish Musicians’ Union, where he has been setting the organisation’s strategic course. He now applies this hands-on experience at STOART, working to enhance the organisation’s operational structures and secure more meaningful outcomes for performers throughout Poland.

Mariana Mello – ABRAMUS

Lawyer, Legal Director of Abramus (Brazilian Association of Music and Arts) and Autvis (Brazilian Association of Visual Artists’ Rights), Director of ABDA (Brazilian Association of Author’s Right).

Bachelors of Law and Letters from the University of São Paulo. Specialized in Copyright and Related Rights from the World Intellectual Property Organization and in Entertainment, Media and Fashion Law from the Higher School of Advocacy of the Brazilian Bar Association, and is a Fellow of the Center for Democracy, Rule of Law and Development at Stanford University.

Leszek Biolik – STOART

Leszek Biolik is a performer, composer, and producer with more than 40 years of stage experience. Best known for his work with the iconic Polish rock band Republika, he has collaborated with many of Poland’s most acclaimed artists and bands. As an active lecturer and mentor, he continues to support and inspire emerging musicians and producers. Alongside his artistic career, he has been deeply engaged in strengthening performers’ rights. Recently appointed Vice-Chairman of the Board of STOART, he brings extensive experience gained as Chairman of the Board of the Polish Musicians’ Union. This expertise is now being actively leveraged to further advance the interests of performers within CMOs with a strong focus on fair representation and the sustainable development of artists’ rights.

Cláudia Cadima – GDA

As an actress since 1981, it was in theatre that Claudia Cadima became a professional. Since then, she has participated in a large number of plays, TV-shows, series and films.

Since the beginning of her career she has also worked with animated films, both doing voice-over work and as an actors’ director. Furthermore, she is often part of international creative teams for the adaptation of their works in Portuguese.

Having taken part in the creation of GDA in Portugal (the performers’ collective management organisation representing musicians, actors and dancers), Claudia is also member of its Board of Directors.

Claudia is the vice-chairwoman of the SCAPR board.

Juan Antonio Durán – SCD

Juan Antonio Durán has served as Director General of the Chilean Society of Authors and Musical Performers (SCD) since 2009, following his previous role as Director of Licensing and Revenue. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Chile, a Master in Public Management and a postgraduate specialization in Intellectual Property. He is a member of the Board of LATINAUTOR and a member of the BIEM’s Management Committee, actively contributing to regional and international cooperation in collective rights management

Damian Flisak – Blue Dragon Institute

Damian Flisak is an expert in new technology regulation, intellectual property law, and regulatory advisory. Doctor of Legal Sciences and licensed legal counsel with extensive practical experience, including litigation and providing opinions on domestic and EU legislative proposals. Author of numerous expert presentations and several dozen academic publications on intellectual property law and new technology regulations. Lecturer at, among others, the National School of the Judiciary and Public Prosecution, the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and Kozminski University. Has also delivered training sessions for the staff of the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Pal Tomori – EJI 

Pal Tomori is the CEO of the Hungarian collective management organisation for performing artists, EJI. EJI was a founding member of SCAPR, where he is currently a member of both the Legal Working Group—of which he served as convenor from 2009 to 2016—and the Co-operation and Development Working Group. He also serves as vice-president of the Association of European Performers’ Organisations (AEPO), and is president of the Hungarian Copyright Forum Association, which represents the Hungarian Group of the Association Littéraire et Artistique Internationale (ALAI). In addition, he is a board member of the Hungarian Copyright Experts’ Council.

Pal Tomori shares his expertise as a visiting lecturer on copyright at the Deák Ferenc Postgraduate Training Institute of the Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest, as well as at the Faculty of Humanities, Institute of Arts, Communication, and Music at Eötvös Lóránt University. He is the co-author of all four editions of the Comprehensive Commentary to the Hungarian Copyright Act (2000–2023).
