How to join?

Join us and become part of a global network dedicated to empowering performers’ rights. Conditions to become a SCAPR member are detailed in article 4 of the SCAPR Statutes and in the SCAPR Code of Conduct. 2 types of Members exist within SCAPR, Associated Member and Ordinary Member.

To become an Associated Member, a performer CMO has to:

  • Fulfil one or both of the following criteria:
    • i. be owned or controlled by the rightsholders they represent;
    • ii. be are organised on a not-for-profit basis.
  • Be authorised by law and/or by duly competent authorities and/or by way of assignment,
  • Licence or any other contractual arrangement to manage performers’ rights in their interests and for their benefit, as their sole or main purpose,
  • Directly or indirectly license performers’ rights and/or collect remuneration for performers,
  • Have entered into and are in good faith actively seeking to implement agreements for the exchange of remuneration with CMOs in other countries (Representation agreements).

In addition to all the above, an Associated Member willing to evolve to Ordinary status will be required to:

  • Be representative within their national territory of the performers’ intellectual property rights they administer,
  • Be owned or controlled by its members, the rightsholders and be organised as a not-for-profit organization.
  • Distribute payments individually to the rightsholders – to both nationals and foreigners,
  • Have entered into and have implemented agreements for the exchange of remuneration with CMOs in other countries (Representation Agreements)
  • Have established an information system with pertinent recording data and information on the remuneration they administer in relation to national as well as to foreign rightsholders by use of the unique international performers´ number (IPN),
  • Have available information on the actual use of fixed performances (national and international) by the existence of comprehensive playlists or documented surveys.
  • Have joined SCAPR Information Systems.

Application process:

The application process is formalized via the remittance of an application dossier. SCAPR Secretariat conducts a thorough review of all membership criteria and submits an application report to SCAPR Board. If approved, it proceeds to the General Assembly for a formal approval, held annually. Throughout the process, the SCAPR Secretariat is there to guide and support the candidate , to ensure smooth and successful application experience.

Membership fee:

SCAPR members are requested to pay a yearly membership fee, calculated based on the annual budget yearly approved by the General Assembly and the level of collection of the CMOs. For more information, please contact us.

You are a performer:

SCAPR does not directly represent performers, as our members are the CMOs. If you are a performer, you can become a member of any CMO of your choice. We invite you to explore our members list to find an organization that suits you.
