History

SCAPR's first meeting was held in 1986 in Vienna on the initiative of amongst others Professor Paul Fürst of LSG.At this meeting it was agreed to continue to hold informal meetings with aim of developing bilateral relations between performers collecting societies.

The years that followed provided the basis for standardized reciprocal agreements and the Policy and Guidelines which it was agreed would be fundamental to SCAPR's work.

On 21 September 2001 in Oslo it was agreed that the work within SCAPR should be formalised and the Statutes were adopted.  At this meeting the following members were elected to SCAPR's Board:

The work within SCAPR is led, apart from by the annual General Assembly and the Board, by a number of working groups which go through various proposals to put forward as guidelines within their respective areas in order to further international cooperation. These groups are as follows:
